Our National Bard – Robert Burns

Burns Cottage and National Heritage Park in the picturesque village of Alloway are about 5 miles away and offers visitors a chance to experience the rich heritage of Burns. It is easily accessible by road and public transport and is an ideal destination for young and old.

National Trust treasure – Culzean Castle and Country Park

Whether your interests are gardening, history,or architecture or just rambling the extensive park, there will be plenty to keep you occupied for a full day at Culzean. The castle was converted between 1777 and 1792 by the architect Robert Adam . Its features include the Armoury with an impressive display of pistols and swords, the Adam masterpiece the Oval Staircase, and a fine collection of paintings Miles of paths lead you to the Deer Park or the Cliff walk or the Camelia House or to the Walled Garden and Fountain Court.

We are ideally situated for further exploring Scotland and the Highlands and of course following the Whisky Trail. The beautiful Island if Arran is easily reached, for the perfect day trip.

Our neighbouring town of Ayr offers great shops, bars and restaurants as well as two lovely parks, a pretty river walk and an esplanade with fun things for the kids. Rozelle Park and the Maclaurin Art Gallery where many local artists display their paintings., has a lovely walk round the pond where there are many species of birds. For the young and young at heart the Heads of Ayr Farm Park has and exciting range of fascinating animals and fun activities, including trampolines, electric tractor rides and quad bikes.

North of Prestwick, is Dean Castle Country Park, Dundonald Castle, and Louden Castle all near Kilmarnock and all offering lots to see and do, especially catering for children. Also North of Prestwick is the Magnum Leisure Centre. It has a swimming pool, ice rink,squash courts and many other fitness activities.
